The George Strait Team Roping Classic is arguably the best payday for any professional roper.
Clay Tryan and partner, Travis Graves, bested 685 teams to each win $136,320 in addition to a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado dually pickup and Bruton Strait Xtreme trailer.
Entry fees are $500 per man with a three-time entry limit.
On Friday, March 13th, the fastest five teams in each of the ten rotations comprise the top fifty teams. Those teams advance to a new three-head roping on Saturday where they compete for the prizes and money.
On Saturday,
Tryan and Graves were second high-call with 9.76-seconds on two-head. A rapid run of 4.19 in the short round, and a miss by the high team, secured the win for the pair with 13.95-seconds on three-head.
Tryan previously won the GSTRC in 2012 with Patrick Smith.
